Don’t Hate the Game, Hate the Player

The Next GTA IV DLC Is…… The Ballad of Gay Tony!!!

133546-gaytonyRockstar just announced the new content for Grand Theft Auto IV in what may very well be the best game title to come to us since the mid 90s!!

In it you will play Luis Lopez who is the assistant of Anthony “Gay Tony” Prince. Both characters appeared in the “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend” mission in the original game.

The DLC will be available this Fall on 360 for 1,600MS points ($19.99). It may seem steep for a downloadable content but Rockstar proved with The Lost and Damned that they new how to treat their fans. The game will also be available in retail as part of a bundle called Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City, a DVD that will feature stand-alone versions of The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony.

Check out the press release below:

“New York, NY – May 26, 2009 – Rockstar Games, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO), is proud to announce the fall release of both the second episode of Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony – exclusively for download on Xbox LIVE┬« online entertainment network, and Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City, which will include both episode one The Lost and Damned, and episode two The Ballad of Gay Tony together on a single disc exclusively for Xbox 360┬« video game and entertainment system from Microsoft.

“Liberty City is the most vibrant game world we’ve created yet. The episodic structure has allowed us to interweave stories, gameplay and atmosphere in a whole new way,” said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. “The team at Rockstar North have yet again surpassed themselves, and made something that is both epic and very innovative. This episode’s focus on high-end night life contrasts with the biker gangs portrayed in The Lost and Damned, whilst giving us a lot of new gameplay possibilities.”

Grand Theft Auto IV’s second downloadable episode, The Ballad of Gay Tony injects Liberty City with an overdose of guns, glitz, and grime. As Luis Lopez, part-time hoodlum and full-time assistant to legendary nightclub impresario Tony Prince (aka “Gay Tony”), players will struggle with the competing loyalties of family and friends, and with the uncertainty about who is real and who is fake in a world in which everyone has a price.

Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City delivers two games on one disc – the all-new episode The Ballad of Gay Tony and the first episode, The Lost and Damned – together on disc for the first time – for Xbox 360 for $39.99 and will not require a copy of the original Grand Theft Auto IV to play.

The Ballad of Gay Tony will release on Xbox LIVE this fall for $19.99 or 1600 MS points and requires players to have Grand Theft Auto IV for Xbox 360 and Xbox LIVE membership to download.”

Grand Theft Auto IV DLC for Feb. 17

gtaivld_screen002Well it is finally announced. The add-on will be called “The Lost and Damned” and will feature a whole new ‘hero’ called Johnny Klebitz, a member of a biker gang known as The Lost.

While you won’t play as Niko Bellic he will make some cameo appearances throughout the add-on. Dan Houser, said that he didn’t want to give the plot away but that Johnny is a very different person and character than Niko and that players will see Liberty City in a very different light.
Meanwhile the screenshots remind me a lot of the FX show Sons of Anarchy (I just watched the last episode which was great by the way) and this can certainly allow for some lovely language and action scenes.

Sam Houser also mentioned that there will be two episodes and that “We hope fans of the game enjoy the new way of experiencing life in Liberty City contained in this first episode.”

So far no price has been given but it’ll be interesting to compare sales of the add-on to those of Street Fighter IV which comes out the same day.

Minor DLC for Dead Space

deadspaceOne of the best games of the moment is EA‘s Dead Space and the developers know this since they already have a tie-in 6-issue comic book and an anime movie (Dead Space: Downfall) which is a prequel to the game. Right after game launch and upon seeing the great reception from critics and fans alike, EA wasted no time in announcing a sequel.

In the meantime they have just announced some downloadable content for the immersive FPS which consists mostly of new skins and weapons. The PS3 and 360 will have some exclusive content of their own.

Both consoles will have:

  • The Big Gun Pack, which includes the Steam Punk Force Gun for 80 MS points ($1.00)
  • The Hot Rock Pack, which adds new visual effects for the flamethrower and pulse rifle which will cost 80 MS points ($1.00)

The 360 (out November 13) will get:

  • The Pedestrian Pack, which includes new skins for the contact beam, plasma cutter, and ripper for 120 MS points ($1.50)
  • The Scorpion and Speed Killer Packs which will make the plasma cutter, line gun, and force gun shoot faster for 180 MS points ($2.25)
  • The Astronaut Pack, which includes an astronaut suit and weapon skins for 240 MS points ($3.00)
  • The Heavy Damage Pack, which gives new looks and enhanced power for various weapons for 240 MS points ($3.00)
  • Military Pack, Scorpion Pack, and Tank Pack (which offers better damage and new skins for suit and weapons) for 320 Ms points ($4.00)
  • A set similar to the Obsidian Packs for PS3 but in 360 colors for similar prices (120 and 240 Ms points)

Meanwhile the PS3 (out November 20) gets:

  • The Obsidian Weapon Skin Pack, which makes the game’s weapons black (woot!) for for $1.50
  • The Obsidian Pack similar to the Weapon Skin Pack but also for the suit for $3.00

Now don’t feel bad, if you feel like this is a retarded, studid and shameful rip-off, you are not alone.
