Don’t Hate the Game, Hate the Player

Okamiden Will Be on the DS…….

Which is really frustrating to me.

I really only play my DS when I’m travelling or when I don’t have consoles or PC available. To me the DS is a great system But I can only play it in short bursts mostly so all these RPGs coming out on the console are my bane!

Add to that the fact that even if the console can produce great graphics you still have to deal with a 4″ screen and tiny speakers. The Wii is struggling to have good “hardcore” games and yet all those games are coming on the portable.

I understand that the DS is selling insanely well and that probably one of the big reasons. I also know that the Japanese spend a lot of time commuting and so they like to have RPGs on the DS. But wouldn’t you have liked Dragon Quest IX, Okamiden, all those lengthy RPGs…..even Chinatown Wars on the Wii instead (or even better “also”)??

At least I would have turned the console on in the past year if it had been so.

Disney Buys Marvel for $4 Billion

avengersThe header basically says it all. Disney is now the proud owner of the whole roster of characters in the Marvel universe. I know this isn’t gaming news per say but we’re all geeks right?

The move was made to help Disney grab the boy’s market the same way that there “princess movies” did for girls. Now I don’t know about you but I’m a guy and I’d love more Beauty and the Beast and Cinderella.

That being said, even with the hefty price tag, this could prove to be a good move. Marvel Entertainment has been been gathering some steam since they created their own studio. Iron Man was a big hit, The Incredible Hulk was very nice and even though Punisher War Zone seems to have been fairly average the future looks good. Iron Man 2 is already well into production and Thor, Captain America and The Avengers movie are all in the works.

And of course let’s not forget all the comics. As long as Disney doesn’t interfere and helps them financially it should be a fruitful union. Now hopefully The Princess and the Frog will be a return to the glory days of the Mouse company.
