Don’t Hate the Game, Hate the Player

GameTrailers Pre-E3 Trailers

gttv_logoE3 doesn’t start until Tuesday but GameTrailers has some early goodies for us!

Last night GTTV aired what they called VGA’s E3 First Look 2009 on Spike. So aside from the sad attempt by Skipe to try to shove the lackluster VGAs down our throat (the freaking thing takes place in December and has nothing to do with E3!) and the mandatory girl who obviously knows nothing about video games (sorry Rose McGowan), we actually had some pretty cool stuff.

Some of the stuff didn’t air last night but has since popped up on GameTrailers.com.

Not everything was great but nothing sucked (as opposed to the VGAs). I’m going to post the trailers that I like most.

On a sidenote I wish I could embed the HD version from GT but WordPress doesn’t support that so I have to go through the Tube.

Enjoy!

The Saboteur: amazing trailer, ambiance and art direction. I’m feeling good!

Mafia II: Mafia II!!!! Need I say more??? This is going to be epic!

Mass Effect 2: looks fraking sweet!! Awesome music too

Arkham Asylum: Joker gameplay looks awesome and Mark Hamill is the best

Dragon Age Origins: the Grey Warden! Great trailer!

Alpha Protocol: very effective trailer with good gameplay promise!

Dante’s Inferno: cool trailer, I like the ambiance

Brink: good but not much info. It’s the next Bethesda so it has my attention

Just Cause 2: very nice surprise, looks like loads of fun

Lost Planet 2: a nice effective trailer

Brutal Legend: as offbeat as you can expect from Tim Schaeffer

More trailers where shown like Madden, NHL 10, DJ Hero…. but these are, to me, the most noteworthy.

Trauma Team Announced for the Wii!!

Sweet!!

I love the Trauma Center series. Even though I’ve only played Second Opinion on the Wii I fell in love instantly. The nice graphics and style, the very Japanese feel that oozes from the game and the amazing soundtrack from Shoji Meguro all made me a big fan.

Second Opinion was a port of the first Trauma Center on the DS and since then Trauma Center 2 came out on the portable. I have been hoping for a port on the Wii and at first I thought that this was it. But it is actually it’s own original title.

Trauma Team (Hospital in Japan) will be the first in the series to let you take the role of several key staff int he hospital. You will be able to play as a general surgeon, diagnostician, emergency medical technician, orthopedic surgeon, endoscope technician, and medical examiner.

Atlus announced the game for Spring 2010 exclusively on the Wii so far. More is expected at E3.

Phil Harrison Steps Down from Atari President

atari_infogrames_logoAtari has been in trouble for a long time now. It was acquired by French company Infogrames (of which Mr. Harrison became president) and underwent serious changes last year.

As a result Infogrames announced annual net loss of €226.1M ($319.5M) for 2008/2009 mostly due to restructuring charges.
Phil Harrison announced that he would step aside after a year as president to be non-executive Director of the Group. He will continue to help with the company’s strategy.

Despite this their revenues have gone to €136.4M ($192.4M), up from €90.3M ($127.4M) last year.
Infogrames also announced that it would take the Atari name and move basis of operations to the U.S.

As far as games go they said that they canceled several games but did not give details as to which ones.

These are definitely tough times for the old firm but let’s hope they are able to weather the storm and become stronger in the process.
